MAGFest - Alexandria, VA

Zero notice on this. I found this reasonable gaming convention (MAGfest - magfest.org ) in my backyard, and brought my 360 VOOT setup (with one set of twinsticks) down. If any of you Oratan folks are in the area, I'd love to play some local matches!

I also have two DCs, VGA adapters, 2 VO:OT discs and a Link cable, but no sticks for that system.

If you do look for the Speed Demos Archive team. They're holding charity speedruns there.

I was there Sunday afternoon and evening, and it was a great convention. Unfortunately, I did not see any Virtual-On, but I did get my fill of Mario Kart and Smash Brothers (both retro and current versions). I also was not able to locate the SDA team. So I either went at the wrong time, or didn't look hard enough. I spent most of my time in the console room, as I have never played many PC or arcade games. It still was a blast though, so I'll have to put it on my radar for next year, and actually stay at the hotel instead of just driving. I highly recommend it to anyone willing to make the trip.

I met up with one of the guys on the MAGFest staff at an arcade party for another forum I go too, and I should be able to go next year and bring my VOOM cab. Anyone planning on going next year?

Absolutely. I'm going to have to go for all three days next time because it was pretty awesome. I have no excuse either since it's virtually in my backyard. Virtually...get it? Nevermind...
