Does a template or scans of the official panels exist?

Post by defor »

Hey there- I don't think i've posted here before...I'm looking to make a pair of sega cab compatible panels for use with 3.3 and 5.66- are there any scans or accurate diagrams of the official panels around that would help in getting these cut and a custom overlay created.

I'm planning to use the stock DC sticks with washer mod (preventative) and MS mounting plates.

Thanks for the help!

I don't know of any scans of any of the official artwork unfortunately.

the closest i know of is someone in Japan who made a custom template for a home stick to look like the arcade panel: http://ot.virtual-on.com/index.php?XBOX ... 5%C3%A5%AF

if you do find any please let me know. I've been looking for VOOT Twin unit art for literally years now.

I would advise against this since the metal rubbing on plastic might cause more damage. I think people only suggest this (or using a metal bobbin) because they didn't know where to buy a replacement. Now we know that you can easily replace the spring receiver by buying a new one for $1-2. I'm not sure about the part it will rub against. For reference, check out the Dreamcast Twin Stick Repair thread.

Hey there.

I think you should take a look at this:

The original creator is a french illustrator I've met at a small mecha-games convention. He made this a while ago. Luckily I saved it before the internet links broke.

Also, to fix the DC Twin Stick; you can use this method. I used it to fix one of my sticks and I can say it works perfectly !

Do they need to be "fixed" if they're not broken currently?
Thanks for the art, the panels I got cut look amazing and work great with the dc sticks.
Also putting together a little pcb to adapt the dc stick mechanisms to dual sanwa arcade harness without cutting any wires (I decided just in case, i'd make my dc sticks able to be reassembled down the road)

It depends on which model of Twin Stick you got. If you got the yellow spring catch, you'll probably have some problem someday as they break easily.

Sega fixed this with the second run of DC Twin Stick that has green spring catches. I have both models; and only had to fix the the yellow spring catches; the green ones never are fine and still alive even after hundreads of hours of intensive play. 8-)

Lol this art doesn't lineup correctly- also the curves on the bottom corners are very much NOT correct with sega panels, so i'm not sure which is right, the template FrancoB from AO made based on a top down photo of the panel or this - but I was able to tweak the artwork so it looks right- i'll do a test fitting tonight before I trace over it and make the variant art I'm going to have made.
